Wiki for Next Stage ‘heroes’ launched

Frederic Laloux and Chris Clark gathered over 100 eager wikithon volunteers to help write launch entries for a Reinventing Organizations wiki that aims to be “a practical resource for leaders reinventing their organization”.

We should really create a wiki as a practical resource for the brave souls – I call them heroes 🙂 – that are setting out to transform their organization to Teal
Frederic Laloux

The idea for a wiki came to Frederic as he wrote Reinventing Organizations: “When the book is out, we should really create a wiki as a practical resource for the brave souls – I call them heroes 🙂 – that are setting out to transform their organization to Teal,” he writes.

He hopes that this evolving wiki will keep the now-‘frozen’ book’s ideas up-to-date: “It could outgrow the book and me, and belong to the large community of people who work towards reinventing management.”

Frederic on the Reinventing Organisations wiki:

“This wiki could become incredibly powerful”.

“Imagine you are in an organization and thinking: god it’s time we changed our compensation system, perhaps towards something like self-set pay? But how exactly does that work, what should we pay attention to? Now imagine there is one single, really well-synthesized article, with lots of examples that is there, at no cost, on the internet!”

The wiki is open source and unbranded – to enable any organisation to embed it to look like part of their own website.

The wiki offers another novel twist too. In order to circumvent any potential issues around labels that are used – e.g. if you prefer the Spiral Dynamics’ stages colour scheme to Ken Wilber’s version, that is used in the book – the wiki will make it easy to automatically swap labels around to use your preferred terms.

The wikithon drew volunteers from around the globe to play roles as writers, editors, energizers and tech engineers.

A UK-based volunteer, Giles Hutchins – author of The Nature of Business and The Illusion of Separation – commented “It is a great pleasure to have been involved in this wikithon as an editor and in Laloux’s work on next generation organisational models, which resonates with a number of trends now afoot along with the work I am involved with regarding the shift from mechanistic to living organisations – what I refer to as Natural Business, inspired by and in harmony with Nature. There is a groundswell of interest and takeup in this shift to more emergent ways of working across sectors – and I hope Enlivening Edge and the wikithon can help convene all the good work in the area.”
